‘Syntium’ – the story

The Syntium® company was started and incorporated in 2010 by Dave O’Brien, who continues to run the business today with a hands-on approach and a strong emphasis on technology and customer focus & satisfaction. Dave started in the elevator industry in 1980 as a technician apprentice with the Express Lift Company based in Northampton, and the in-depth four year technician apprenticeship followed by a further seven years working for the Express Lift Company Technical Department in the London office, was the best start to the lift industry anyone could hope for.

Dave always had a hands on approach, even during his many years as Technical Manager on Jackson Lift Group managing the nationwide team of technicians. During his twenty one years spent working on Jackson Lift Group, Dave had to deal with many complex and in-depth technical problems, not only on relatively common equipment from the multi-national manufacturers, but also on equipment from other lesser known manufacturers, that was rarely seen in the UK at that time. This large variety of equipment and technology proved very beneficial going forward.

Dave sat on the Technical Committee of the Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA) for a number of years, and also as a member of the Components Committee at the European Lift Association (ELA) on behalf of the European Lift Components Association (ELCA), where he held the position for ten years.

Under Dave’s guidance, the Syntium® team continue to adopt his strong focus and emphasis on customer satisfaction, from initial enquiry right through to invoice. We are confident that we are second to none on our customer focus & support, and also our unrivalled and dedicated lift knowledge. We are Synply the best at what we do!

Our position in the UK market was strengthened when we launched our Synplicity® by Syntium range of products – a range of high tech state-of-the-art lift communication products, designed specifically for the UK.

Our position in the market was strengthened further when in 2025 and under the new ownership of our sole suppliers – Esse-ti SRL in Italy, we launched the much anticipated Syntium ASSIST fire-fighting & evacuation intercom product. A fully digital high tech and state-of-the-art product that sets the bar very high going forward for lift communication audio quality.

Innovalift AB, was established 2024 as a new business area within the Investment AB Latour, Sweden. With a group of wholly owned leading companies within the lift and elevator industry focused on innovation, quality, design and sustainability we want to develop the possibilities for people to move forward.

Today Innovalift consists of 10 companies with focus on designing, manufacturing, and installing vertical and inclined platform lifts, stair lifts, and elevator components. The group has a global presence on all continents and offers products, services and components for both private and commercial usage.

Innovalift employs today over 1.300 people with a total turnover of 3.34 bn SEK (PF).
